Rock Hill - The Rock Hill Blue Hawks are off and running in their inaugural basketball 2020-2021 basketball season under the leadership of head coach Shawn Williams and his staff. The Blue Hawks are currently sitting at 6-2 on the season and are sitting at the TABC #17 ranking for Class 5A in the state.

Seniors Grant Shaw and Jaythan Jackson look to take their varsity experience from Prosper HS and start a tradition of winning at Rock Hill HS during this inaugural season.  Both players will be relied on heavily this season.

Junior Anthony Williams will bring firepower off the bench.  He currently leads the team in scoring.  Sophomore Riley Shore is the youngest player on the team but looks to be a big part of our success this season.  He is one of the best pure shooters in the state.

In their opening game of the season Rock Hill defeated Rowlett 75-50. The Blue Hawks started the game on a 21-0 run and never looked back.  Rock Hill had five guys score in double figures; Grant Shaw 10, Anthony Williams 14, Jaythan Jackson 12, Riley Shore 11, and Conor Kern 13.

In their next contest the Blue Hawks (1-0) and Frisco Lone Star locked horns for a back and forth first quarter ending with the Rangers up 16-15. Rock Hill ramped it up during the second quarter and fought to take a 32-22 halftime lead.

The third period was close, but Rock Hill  was able to pull away late behind a stingy defense and some key buckets.  Seniors Anthony Williams and Grant Shaw led the way offensively with 20 and 19 points, respectively.  Jaythan Jackson also chipped in with 10 points.

Rock Hill (2-0) ran into its first bump in the road for the 20-21 season when they traveled to face the TABC Class 5A #15 ranked Dallas Kimball. The Knights handed the Blue Hawks the 80-73 loss.

Head coach Shawn Williams' squad rebounded from the loss with two straight wins on Thanksgiving week. The Blue Hawks (2-1) traveled to Grand Prairie on Monday to get a 68-51 win and on the following day they took their show on the road to Frisco Liberty and got a 66-52 win.

Rock Hill (4-1) wasn’t back on the court until December 11 when they took a tough 69-55 loss to Mesquite Horn (4-6). After leading 10-9 at the end of the quarter they were outscored by 11 points to trail 27-17 at the half.

Despite best efforts from the Blue Hawks they couldn’t overcome the deficit and took their second loss of the season.  Once again seniors Anthony Williams and Jaythan Jackson led the way with 13 points.  Another senior Grant Shaw also scored in double figures with 11 points.

Rock Hill (5-2) got back in the win column Tuesday night with an 89-46 victory over Carrollton Ranchview.  The Blue Hawks were led in scoring by Jaythan Jackson and Jayden Hall with 13 points a piece.  Grant Jesson 12 points and Connor Kern 10 points also scored in double figures.

Rock Hill (6-2) wrapped up play before going into the break hosting Irving Nimitz (0-2) on Friday, December 18 and getting a 72-48 win. Riley Shore and Connor Kern had 11 points and Grant Shaw chipped in 10 points. The Blue Hawks opened District 10-5A play with one last game before Christmas when they traveled to McKinney North.

Holiday break games for the Blue Hawks include a home game against Wylie East on December 30, at Denison on January 2 and then they return home to face Princeton on January 5.

District 10-5A records headed into the first round of district play include Lovejoy (2-0), McKinney North (5-1), Rock Hill (6-2), Sherman (6-4), The Colony (3-5), Princeton (2-5), Wylie East (3-8) and Denison (0-3).
