Prosper basketball 20-21 campaigns are roll into District 5-6A play

Prosper - The Prosper HS boys basketball team under the leadership of Jonathan Ellis is off to a 7-3 start. The Eagles completed non-district before opening District 5-6A play on Friday, December 18 hosting Rockwall Heath and getting a 67-49 win. Prosper hosted McKinney (11-1) in the first district game on Tuesday, December 22.

The Eagles opened their season during the month of November with three wins and three losses. After dropping their first two contests at Frisco Independence 74-72 and at home to Frisco Liberty 67-55. Prosper then traveled to Rockwall to get a 74-62 win and hosted Dallas Jesuit getting a 57-48 win. They closed out the month with a loss to Frisco Wakeland 80-54 and a win over Frisco Memorial 71-53. 

The month of December turned out much better for Prosper as they got three wins. The Eagles went to Richardson Berkner to get a win 61-44. Then they beat Plano 80-67 and Arlington Bowie 65-64. 

District 5-6A is loaded with talented basketball teams including McKinney (11-2), Allen (8-2), Prosper (7-3), McKinney Boyd (4-2), Denton Braswell (7-4), Little Elm (5-4) and Denton Guyer (5-6). McKinney is currently ranked 7th in the TABC Class 6A boys basketball polls.

The Prosper Lady Eagles are two games into District 5-6A play after falling 72-53 to Denton Guyer. Guyer is the 13th ranked team in Class 6A by the TABC. Guyer picked up its second district win defeating McKinney 73-34 last Friday. McKinney was the 16th ranked team in Class 6A by the TABC. 

The Lady Eagles opened up their season in November with a win over Wylie 45-44. That was followed by losses to Frisco Memorial 44-34, Flower Mound 58-41 and Rockwall Heath 36-32. 

Prosper then won three straight over Rockwall 38-35, The Colony 41-39 and Plano West 39-34. They dropped their last three non-district contests to Wylie East 48-35, McKinney North 61-58 and Southlake Carroll 51-40. 

The Lady Eagles are 0-2 in District 5-6A play with losses to Little Elm 45-34 and last Friday’s loss to Denton Guyer 72-53. 

District 5-6A teams include Denton Braswell (5-1/2-0), Denton Guyer (9-4/2-0), Allen (6-2/0-0), Little Elm (5-6/1-1), Prosper (4-8/0-2), McKinney Boyd (1-4/0-1) and McKinney (2-8/0-1).
