Prosper gets big 27-17 win over McKinney
Eagles hold fast at third in the District 5-6A standings
Prosper - The Prosper Eagle (2-1/4-1) football team got a much needed win last Thursday, November 5 over an undermanned McKinney Lion squad 27-17. Led by quarterback Jackson Berry who threw or ran for most of the Eagles points on the night. Prosper opened up the game with two first quarter touchdown passes, but also gave up a late first quarter 64 yard pick six to hold onto a 13-7 lead.
The second quarter was scoreless until McKinney once again picked off and Eagle pass at the Prosper 34 yard line and settled for a 21 yard field goal when they couldn’t punch it in. The halftime score stood at 13-10.
Prosper got things going in the third stanza with a 74 yard Jackson Berry touchdown pass and Berry carried the ball in for the PAT. The Eagles once again relied on the legs of their quarterback as Berry rushed for a short touchdown at the end of the quarter. After the run for PAT failed the Eagles had a 27-10 lead.
The fourth quarter proved very uneventful after McKinney made a big defensive play that they converted into a rushing touchdown and with the PAT kick the score stood at 27-17. Neither team could manage any additional scoring offense and the final score stayed the same with the Eagles picking up the district win.
