Rock Hill (5-3) turns the corner in district play; Prosper Eagles (8-0) rolling

Rock Hill Varsity Volleyball hosted Lovejoy last Tuesday night, October 20. They fought hard but came up short, losing in 3 sets (10-25, 7-25, 8-25). The match marks the halfway point of the season for District 10-5A and the Blue Hawks find themselves in a tie with The Colony for the number three spot with a record of 4-3. Lovejoy holds the top position at 7-0 and McKinney North sits at number two with a record of 6-1. 

Rock hill had gutsy performances by several players. Senior right side Jenna Curran and middle blocker Montana Crumbaugh each earned three kills while senior setter Taylor Bass added in 10 assists. Outside hitters Alexa Breslin and Mychael Singleton helped the defense with nine and six digs, respectively.

On Friday night the Rock Hill varsity volleyball headed north to take on Sherman. They beat down the Bearcat, winning in 3 sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-14) and increasing their district record to 5-3.

Senior middle Montana Crumbaugh and junior outside hitter Alexa Breslin led the offense with seven kills each at the hands of setters Taylor Bass and Kendall Rench who earned 18 and 16 assists. Defensively, junior middle Hailey Smith blocked three balls while junior libero Willo Hawkins added 14 digs.

The Blue Hawks are back at home on Tuesday, October 27 to host The Colony in their third match of the second round of district. 

Prosper HS Volleyball remained undefeated at 7-0 in District 5-6A swept Little Elm one Tuesday night, October 20. The Eagles got the win 3-0, with set scores being 25-14, 25-15, 25-11.

Key performers for the Eagles included Kendall Hewitt with 12 kills and Bailey Birmingham with 10 kills and three blocks. Hayley Harrington chipped 14 digs, Sami Jacobs got seven kills and Nikki Steinheiser garnered seven kills along with seven digs.

Callie Kieffer led the team with 23 assists and Jazzlyn Ford added 20 assists. 

Prosper (7-0/9-1) holds down the top district spot with McKinney Boyd (6-1/10-2) sitting in second. Allen (3-2/7-4) is in third place. Denton Guyer (1-2/2-4) and McKinney HS (2-4 /5-6) are battling for the fourth place spot

Prosper played host to Denton Braswell on Friday, October 23 and swept Braswell 3-0. Set scores on Friday night were 25-15, 25-7, 25-7. The win left the Eagles at (8-0 / 10-1) and sitting alone at the top of the district. 

Top performers for the match were Hayley Harrington with 11 digs, Sami Jacobs got eight kills served three aces along with nine digs, Bailey Birmingham had eight kills, Callie Kieffer got 18 assists and three aces, and Jazzlyn Ford added 16 assists with two aces on the night.
