Name: Caroline Havard
School: Prosper High School
College plans: Attend Houston Baptist University to study business and play soccer
Superstitions, rituals or traditions before or after competing: We have a lot! Some are handshakes before kickoff, both wrist and finger tape with the number of the person we are playing for that game, we always play for each other, I have to chew gum every game and do the Aero dance with my teammates.
Song or music that prepares you for competition: Mostly rap. We listen to “We Ready,” and “All I do is Win.”
Favorite subject/class: This year it is business statistics.
Favorite teacher and why: Mr Rice. He is such a genuine person and is so supportive.
Favorite coach and why: It’s a tie: Coach Baca, because he always challenges me to try new things and he really believes in me. Coach Grant, because she is not just a coach. I really look up to her in a lot of ways.
Best teammate and why: All my senior girls! My best friends and I have been playing together forever. I love and trust them all!
Best high school sports memory: Scoring the winning goal against Frisco High School in the playoffs my sophomore year was a big one, but, the bonds we have formed this year have been amazing.
Best high school non-sports memory: Friday nights after the football games with my friends.
What you love about your sport: I get to play with my best friends. We have grown up together on the soccer field. Both the wins and the losses have bonded us together and I will never forget that.
Favorite sports movie and why: “Remember the Titans.” I love how their bond together made them a stronger team on the field.
Describe your school’s Class of 2020: Resilient. This has been a tough year for us but, I know this will make us stronger. I see my friends be strong for each other and support each other. I am proud to be a part of this class.
Biggest lesson learned: Never take any moment for granted and be grateful.
Biggest influence in your life: My family. They are my biggest support system.
Athlete you look up to: My sister, Katelyn. She played soccer for Prosper too, and went on the play at DBU. She is a hard worker and a great athlete.
Reaction to the season being canceled: I was honestly devastated. I love this team and I can’t believe I won’t get to play with them again.
Message to your teammates: Thank you for an amazing senior year! I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls to experience this with. I love you all and am grateful for each of you!
Message to your freshman self: Play your heart out every game. You never know when it’s going to be your last.
Thing you won’t miss at all: Prosper running test
Thing you will miss the most: That game-day feeling with this group of girls. It was truly the best!
