The Eagles’ first foray into District 9-6A action in the 2019 season came with great success, seeing Prosper go 32-8 overall while posting a 12-2 record in district play and making it all the way to the state championship where they’d lose out in a three game series against Rockwall.

Now under the tutelage of new head coach Scott Holder, the Eagles will hope to repeat success in 2020 - this time with a championship in tow.

“I feel very confident about this upcoming season,” Holder stated. “These guys have worked very hard and have invested a lot into the off season. This team will be very good defensively and very deep on the mound. The team will have to develop offensively over the course of the season to be the team we need to be. We have high expectations about what we do overtime we step on the field. That is our culture. Losing a lot of seniors and primary pitchers from last year is never an excuse. We will have guys that step up and fill those roles.”

Despite some glaring losses from 2019’s graduating class, the Eagles will still have a roster filled with familiar faces who were on that state-caliber club.

Senior Easton Robbins (1B/OF/P) will be a key player in the team’s 2020 success after hitting .378, 21 RBI’s and receiving First Team All District in 2019.

Junior shortstop Chase Pendley will be eyeing another solid year after hitting .368 and ending the 2019 season with a .450 on-base percentage.

They will be joined by returning junior Cameron Harpole (P/OF), junior Blake McEwan (P/OF), senior catcher Beau Preston, senior outfielder Caden Scherer, senior outfielder Zach Czarnecky and senior outfielder Stratton Ortiz.

These returners will be joined by a solid cast of newcomers who will without a doubt bolster the Eagles’ roster:

Sophomore catcher Easton Carmichael, an Oklahoma commit; junior middle infielder Jackson Juvera; senior pitcher and utility player Cade Citelli (a UTA commit); sophomore pitcher Lucas Davenport, a Texas A&M commit; senior catcher Jimmy Hutson, a Richland College commit; senior pitcher and utility player Max Hamilton, a McLennan Community College commit; junior pitcher Josh Barnhouse; senior pitcher Heaven Cichocki, a Hill College commit; senior pitcher Jack James; junior outfielder Ryan Medeiros; junior third baseman Gave Colina; sophomore outfielder Jacob Devenny; junior pitcher and outfielder Nicolas Richards; and senior pitcher and utility player Cade Ferguson.

“My first year in Prosper has been everything I know that it would be,” Holder stated about the team and community. “The people that I work with are outstanding and the players make me excited to show up to work on a daily basis. This is a community and school district with high expectations. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

The Eagles start off the season with a round of tournament games, beginning with a ballgame against the Vista Ridge Rangers Feb. 27.
