The Prosper Lady Eagles cruised through the first two rounds of the playoffs last week, knocking off Naaman Forest High on Nov. 4 and Copperas Cove on Nov. 7, both by scores of 3-0.

Prosper opened the playoffs against the Lady Rangers in the bi-district round of the playoffs and took the first set in the match 25-10. The second set saw Naaman Forest put up more of a fight, but not enough as the Lady Eagles took that set 25-18 and then rolled through the third set with a 25-7 win.

Copperas Cove took down its bi-district opponent, Horn High, 3-0 by winning 25-9, 25-21 and 25-17.

That set last Thursday’s area round match against Copperas Cove. The Lady Eagles won the first set by the largest margin of the match, downing Copperas Cove 25-10. Prosper then took the second match 25-18 and the third 25-19 to eliminated Copperas Cove and move onto the next round of the playoffs.

Prosper’s regional quarterfinals opponent will be the winner of the match between Sachse and Rockwall-Heath, which was played Friday after press time for this issue. And the winner of that match will advance to the regional semifinals on Nov. 15.

Since a 3-0 loss to Plano West on Oct. 22, the Lady Eagles extended their straight sets winning streak to 12, blanking their final two regular season opponents — Allen High and Plano High — in addition to their postseason victories. That Oct. 22 loss to Plano West was the Lady Eagles only district loss this season and it snapped a 23 straight set win streak that dated back to Sept. 27, when Plano West won the second set in Prosper’s 3-1 match victory.

The Oct. 22 defeat by Plano West was the Lady Eagles only loss of October and first defeat since a 3-0 loss to Flower Mound High on Sept. 3.

The Lady Eagles opened district play in September with a win over Keller High and followed it with a pair of 3-0 wins over McKinney High and Plano East. The Lady Eagles took their district opener 25-18, 25-13 and 25-21 on the road at McKinney High on Sept. 13 and then took care of the Lady Panthers 25-19, 25-23 and 25-15 in their first district match at home on Sept. 17. Prosper took the Plano West match 3-1 on Sept. 27 and then blanked Allen 3-0 on Oct. 1.

The Lady Eagles remained undefeated in district with home wins defeating Plano on Oct. 4 and McKinney on Oct. 8. They also defeated Plano East and McKinney Boyd 3-0 before the loss to Plano West.
