The Prosper Lady Eagles kept their district winning streak alive last week with decisive wins against Plano East and Rockwall-Heath.

Prosper took both matches by scores of 3-0, defeating Plano East on the road Oct. 11 and Rockwall-Heath at home on Oct. 15.

The Lady Eagles took down Plano East 25-23, 25-18 and 25-15, with junior Sami Jacobs leading the way with 12 kills in the match. Juniors Nikki Steinheiser and Taylor Youtsey, and sophomore Kendall Hewitt each had six kills in the match.

The Oct. 15 win over Rockwall-Heath went 25-24, 25-15 and 25-13.

The wins lifted Prosper to 21-7 overall for the season and 9-0 in district play.

Prosper and its undefeated district record were back in action last Friday at home against McKinney Boyd High and then hosted Plano West on Tuesday, but both of those were played after press time for this issue. The Lady Eagles will next be in action Friday at home against Allen High for another district match and then travel to Plano for the last match of the regular season on Oct. 29.

Before their rematch last Friday, McKinney Boyd was the only district opponents to go to five sets against Prosper. The two teams last met on Sept. 24 and the match didn’t start well for Prosper as the Lady Eagles dropped the first two sets 25-22 and 25-14, but they then battled back with two very close sets — 25-23 and 25-23 — to even it before taking the final set 15-12.

Shore and Youtsey led the way to the team’s 63 total kills with 13 each, while Bailey Birmingham and Steinheiser each had 11 kills. Steinheiser also contributed a team high 18 digs in the match, followed by Jacobs with 12 and Mackenzie Jefferson with 11.

The Lady Eagles opened district play last month with a win over Keller High and followed it with a pair of 3-0 wins over McKinney High and Plano East. The Lady Eagles took their district opener 25-18, 25-13 and 25-21 on the road at McKinney High on Sept. 13 and then took care of the Lady Panthers 25-19, 25-23 and 25-15 in their first district match at home on Sept. 17. Prosper took the Plano West match 3-1 on Sept. 27 and then blanked Allen 3-0 on Oct. 1.

The Lady Eagles remained undefeated in district with home wins defeating Plano on Oct. 4 and McKinney on Oct. 8.
