The Prosper Eagles got a pair of dominant pitching performances in sweeping its District 14-5A series with McKinney North, earning a 7-1 victory on Tuesday, April 3, and then a 5-1 win on Friday, April 6.

Connor Jackson led the way on the mound and at the plate in the 5-1 decision at Prosper, throwing 5.2 innings of scoreless relief with nine strikeouts and no walks and allowing six hits.

He took over for Braden Carmichael, who allowed a run on three hits with a walk and a strikeout in 1.1 innings.

Jackson also was 3-for-4, drove in a run and scored while Braden Webb was 2-for-3 and scored, Luke Johnson was 2-for-3 and drove in a run, Taylor Pendley doubled, drove in a run and scored and Cody Gallegos tripled and scored for Prosper.

After McKinney North scored its run in the top of the first, the Eagles took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning. Jackson and Webb opened the inning with singles and Dawson Zey walked with one out to load the bases.

Johnson had an RBI single to left and Webb scored on a passed ball to make it 2-1.

In the fourth, Prosper took a 3-1 lead when Gallegos tripled to right to open the inning and scored on a bunt single by Tate Starkes.

The Eagles padded their lead in the sixth. Beau Preston reached on an error and scored on Pendley’s one-out RBI double to right. Jackson followed with an RBI single to left.

In the 7-1 victory at McKinney North, Jacob Cosner and Spencer Cochran combined on the four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and a walk. Cosner started and threw 4.1 scoreless innings with four hits and seven strikeouts to earn the win.

Kendall Foster homered and drove in three runs, Jackson and Webb each went 2-for-4 and scored twice and Gallegos was 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored.

The Eagles broke to the early lead with a four-run first inning. Jackson and Webb singled before Foster homered to right field. Gallegos had a two-out single and went to second on a wild pickoff throw. He then scored on an error at third.

North had a pair of hits in the bottom of the second and third innings but couldn’t push a run across. The Bulldogs scored their run in the fifth after a two-out walk was followed by a dropped third strike and an error.

Prosper took a 5-1 advantage in the sixth when Johnson singled, Gallegos bunted and reached on an error to put both runners in scoring position and Starkes had a sac fly to center.

The Eagles closed out the scoring an inning later when Jacson and Webb singled, Zey had a one-out hit to load the bases, Johnson was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Gallegos had an RBI single.
