LEWISVILLE — The Prosper High School varsity tennis team completed their season on Thursday, April 5 after competing in the 2018 District 14-5A District tournament.

After finishing in second place in the fall, the team was eager to make an impression on the district standings again, and several athletes had big performances.

“There is so much to be proud of,” head tennis coach Mandy Bowling said. “They played great and represented Prosper so well.”

The boys team saw some great tennis from freshman boys doubles team Jett Anderson and Josh Stephens took home second place overall at the tournament. The finish also secured them a place in the Regional Tournament in a couple of weeks.

Also on the boys side, junior Phillip Johnson and junior Michael Mudd placed fourth in the boys doubles competition. Sophomore Brock Ladehoff finished in fourth place in boys singles.

Two mixed doubles teams — sophomore Stormie Dawkins and freshman Aidan Brooks and senior Payton Rackley and freshman Jack O’Hara — both finished in fourth.

For the girls, the girls duo of senior Erin Konvalin and junior Lilli Watson placed third in girls doubles, which was one place better than their finish last week at the Rockwall Tournament.

“If you see any of these athletes, or any member of the varsity tennis team, please make sure to tell them good job,” Bowling said.

While the varsity season is over, there’s still an opportunity to catch some Prosper tennis. The JV team will play host for their District tournament on Friday, April 6 at the Prosper High School tennis courts. Competition will begin at 9 a.m.

For Jett Anderson and Josh Stephens, they will continue to prepare for Regionals, which takes place on April 18.
