AUSTIN — The Prosper High School girls track team participated in the 91st annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays from March 29-30 and came away with some big results over the weekend.
As one of the most prestigious track meets in the nation, more than 7,000 track and field athletes from over 24 states made the trip to the University of Texas campus in order to participate in the meet.
Additionally, the athletes must qualify in each individual event to compete.
Prosper’s girl team had athletes qualify in the 4x100 meter relay, the 100 meter hurdles, the 100 meter dash, the distance medley relay and the 4x800 meter relay.
Freshman Macy Owens and junior Kennedy Adams both qualified for the 100 meter hurdles. Owens took 39th place, running a time of 16.00 flat, while Adams ran a personal best time of 15.86, placing 36th.
Junior Miracle Mahone qualified for the 100 meter dash and ran a time of 12.58, which was good enough for a 46th place finish.
The girls 4x100 meter dash, consisting of Kennedy Adams, Miracle Mahone, Macy Owens, Jaelynn Williams and Dymenz Malone, finished in 34th place with a time of 50.12.
The distance medley relay took home 24th place. The team of Madison Christy, Anna Hornyak, Tatum Castillo and Emily Patterson ran the relay in 12 minutes and 52 seconds.
And rounding out the competition for the weekend was the Prosper 4x800 meter relay team of Tatum Castillo, Emily Patterson, Macy Owens and Anna Hornyak. The girls finished 14th overall with a time of 9 minutes and 58 seconds.
Both the boys and girls teams are currently competing in the 14-5A District Meet, which is taking place from April 5-6. The results from the meet will be posted shortly following the weekend.
