The Prosper cross country teams competed at a high level once again in their third meet of the season, combining for three first-place finishes at the Southlake Carroll Invite on Saturday, Sept. 10.

Multiple individuals finished with career-best times in the 5,000-meter run and contributed to impressive finishes for both the girls and boys varsity teams. The boys finished first among 22 schools 5A and under thanks to four top-20 individual finishes. Wyatt Landis led the way with a time of 16 minutes and 42 seconds, seventh fastest among 159 runners. Teammate Alex Velez finished ninth, followed by Leon Valdman (14th) and Hamilton Burdett (18th).

The varsity girls followed up last week’s 12th place finish by taking the No. 3 slot this time around among 5A schools and 9th including 5A and 6A schools. Tatum Castillo finished 20th out of 253 competitors with a time of 18 minutes and 38 seconds.

Prosper junior varsity stole the spotlight with a pair of first-place finishes. The girls finished atop the leaderboard out of 12 teams, led by a second-place individual finish from Reagan Beavers. Five other runners finished in the top 20 out of 159 runners, comprised of Emma Kruse, Kirsten Towle, Kesley Hodges and Anna Johnson.

The JV boys also took home a first place finish for the Eagles in a field of 17 teams. Alex Williams finished with the fastest individual time out of 231 runners. Other Prosper runners in the top 20 were Jacob Choi, Bryce Earls, Cody Duke, Carter Derebery, Jordan Rose and Jacob Cronin.

Prosper cross country will have a week off before their next meet on Sept. 23 at the Lovejoy Invitational at Myers Park in McKinney.
