Lexy Cureton is a seventh grader at Reynolds Middle School. While she and her family watched the news reports coming in from Moore, Okla., they couldn’t help but wonder what about Lexy’s dad.

It turns out Alan Cureton, Lexy’s father, was safe but his home was destroyed and most of his belongings were gone. Alan’s house was near Briarwood Elementary School, one of the schools destroyed by the twister.

Lexy and her mom Lori Boecking, also from Moore, moved to Prosper two years ago, but Lexy was born in Moore and lived there until she moved to Prosper. She spent every other weekend at her dad’s house when she was an Oklahoma resident.

Now, Boecking wants to help not just Lexy’s dad but other victims of the tornadoes.

Several residents of Prosper are working together to gather donated items for the Oklahoma victims of the May 20 tornado.

Jennifer Gable, who also has a friend affected by the tornado, is working to help victims. She has already taken a load of donations to Journey Church in Norman and wants to continue the work here in Prosper.

"We would like to continue the relief effort by coordinating and collecting further donations or gathering volunteers to assist with the delivery of the items to Oklahoma," Gable said in an e-mail."

Buddy and Melanie Wilson have donated space at The Barn on Coit Road to accept donated items.

Donations will be accepted on: Friday, May 24, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 25 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The dropoff location is The Barn at 1695 Coit Road in Prosper.
