John J (Jack) Dermody, 88, passed away Feb. 17, 2020 surrounded by family at his home near Celina.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan; his son Michael; his daughter Seanna Paget and her husband, Tod Paget; his seven grandchildren Benjamin, Josh, Brian, Sean, Brittany, Clayton and Cole; and his great-grandchildren Sam and Camden.
Jack was born May 11, 1931 in New York to Joe and Elizabeth Dermody. After graduating high school, he attended Cornell University for two years, then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an air traffic controller for four years, achieving the rank of Buck Sergeant.
He married the love of his life, Joan Price Dermody, in 1956.
After honorably serving in the Korean War, he continued his education at Georgia Tech, graduating in 1959 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Jack took great pride in his work and after a fulfilling career in electrical engineering, he retired and moved to Celina. He taught First Baptist Church’s Senior Sunday School class for 23 years.
His interests include history, reading and spending time with his family. He is remembered as a caring man that will be dearly missed.
