The Eagles varsity squad narrowly edged out the McKinney Boyd Broncos, 6-5, in some high-intensity district 10-3A baseball action.

Prosper drew first blood in the bottom of the first with a monstrous three-run homer by Luke Johnson, giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

The bottom of the fourth brought two more runs for the Eagles — the first coming off a costly error by the Boyd second baseman, the other coming off a fielders choice and making it a 5-0 Prosper advantage.

McKinney surged back in the top of the fifth with a booming, clutch grand slam to turn the tide of the ballgame and make it a 5-4 score.

The Eagles scored their final insurance run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double by Jacob Cosner, putting the Eagles up 6-4.

The Broncos had a gleam of hope with two outs in the top of the seventh after a solo homer made it 6-5. Cosner had other plans, however, striking out the last McKinney batter looking to end the ballgame and give Prosper the victory.

Johnson went 1-3 with three RBIs and a run scored, Braden Webb went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Cosner went 1-2 with an RBI, and Jax Alley went 2-3 with two runs scored.

The win puts the Eagles at 21-3 overall on the season and 6-1 in district play.
