MCKINNEY — The Prosper Lady Eagles trounced McKinney, 11-6, in their district 9-6A softball ballgame, scoring early and often to keep the Lady Lions at bay.

Ayden Allen lead things off for the Lady Eagles with a double into center and Marisa Mejia followed with a single on a blooper into right field to set up the bases for the Lady Eagles — Sydney Lewis broke the scoring open with a three-run bomb over the centerfield fence, Prosper scored once more in the inning with an RBI triple by Lexie Bell to make it a 4-0 Lady Eagle lead.

After McKinney scored a run in the bottom of the first, the Eagles sent their response in the top of the third — an RBI double by Julia Bumford padded the Prosper score and made it a 5-1 ballgame.

The Lady Lions bounced back into the ballgame in a big way with a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to make it a 5-4 lead for Prosper.

Unfortunately for the Lady Lions, Prosper did not come to give up any leads — the red hot Bumford kept up her production with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth, making it a 7-4 game. Riley Stephens added to the Lady Eagles lead with an RBI double into right field, giving Prosper a demanding 8-4 advantage.

McKinney did their last bit of scoring in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI single and RBI ground-out to make it an 8-6 ballgame.

Prosper added the finishing runs in the top of the sixth with a two-RBI double and another two-RBI single to give the game its final score.
