PROSPER — The Prosper Eagles routed the Plano East Panthers, 9-0, in there District 9-6A matchup, picking up the win on the back of a huge first inning and another strong start for Jacob Cosner. The Eagles now sit at 4-0 in district play.

After Cosner sat the Plano East batters down in order in the top of the first, racking up his first two strikeouts of the ballgame and setting the pace for the remainder of his start.

The Eagles came out swinging in the bottom of the first, smashing seven hits and scoring 8 runs in the inning — with two outs in the inning, Dalton Davis got the offense going with a solo homer over left, four straight singles by Luke Johnson, Adam Sheriff, Easton Robbins, and Chase Pendley which added two more runs to the Eagles score, an RBI walk and passed ball brought two more Eagles around, followed by an RBI single by Connor Jackson and another passed ball brought Prosper’s offensive onslaught to an end, a commanding 8-0 lead to show for it.

Cosner continued to dominate Plano’s offense through the third inning, refusing to even give up as little as a walk and grabbing himself three more strikeouts in the process.

Prosper snagged their final run of the ballgame in the bottom of the third off of yet another passed ball by the Panthers.

With a 9-0 lead, Cosner coasted till the fifth inning of the ballgame before being pulled, only giving up one single in the dominating start.

Cosner went five full innings, only giving up one hit and collecting six strikeouts.

Jackson went 1-2 with 2 RBIs and a run scored, Davis went 1-2 with an RBI and scored a run, Sheriff went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Pendley went 1-1 with an RBI and a run scored, and Robbins went 2-3 with a run scored.
