McKINNEY — Wayne Anderson ran for 230 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries as Prosper defeated McKinney Boyd, 42-37, in District 9-6A (II) action on Thursday, Oct. 18.

Keegan Shoemaker completed 18-of-23 passes for 238 yards and two touchdowns while Jostein Clarke led the way receiving with six catches for 135 yards and a score and Devony Maloy added five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles, who remained in sole possession of second place behind Allen.

After an unproductive first quarter which saw Boyd (2-5, 2-2) take a 10-0 lead on a field goal and Christian Ziegler’s one-yard run, Prosper put 21 points on the board in the second quarter.

Anderson had a 27-yard TD run and then Logan Nelson returned a fumble 25 yards for a score that gave the Eagles a 14-10 advantage.

Boyd answered with a 74-yard touchdown pass from Christian Drake to Kareem Coleman but Prosper scored in the final minute of the half on Shoemaker’s 19-yard pass to Maloy for a 21-17 lead.

The Broncos took a 31-21 lead on touchdown runs by Collin Drake and Ja Tyler Shaw in the first half of the third quarter before Prosper went in front to stay by the end of the quarter.

Anderson scored on a 17-yard run and Clarke had a 63-yard TD catch.

Anderson scored early in the fourth on a 66-yard run to push Prosper’s lead to 42-31. Boyd scored on a 35-yard TD pass from Ziegler to Shaw with 3:10 left but the Eagles were able to hold on for the victory.

Prosper will take on Plano West at home on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
