“Let’s Go to the Movies” is the theme of this year’s Dance Arts Dance Recital scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Amarillo Civic Center Complex, 401 S. Buchanan St.

Spectators can expect a family-friendly show including everything from the costumes and music, according to Sharon Cost, owner and instructor of Dance Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

“We would love to have anybody who wants to come,” Cost said.

This is the end-of-the-year recital where about 50 dancers will show their skills and talents during the recital. Cost said that Dance Arts emphasizes the dancers, not the scenery, during the program so don’t expect many scenery changes. That is, until the fuzzy pink unicorn dancers appear, she adds, and that will be a different story.

Movies such as "Peter Pan," "101 Dalmations," "Romeo and Juliet," "The Mask of Zorro" and more will get a little time on stage during the recital, Cost said.
