A vacant home east of Wolfforth in the 9200 block of Canoga Avenue sustained damage from a fire on Sunday afternoon.

Jeff Webb, deputy fire chief of Wolfforth Fire & EMS, said the fire was reported around 12:30 p.m. A woman who was smoking a cigarette later saw that it had started a fire. The woman tried to put the fire out with a water hose, but the fire quickly spread among high brush and dead grass that had not been recently mowed.

"She flicked it and then turned around and saw that it was on fire," Webb said.

The fire spread to a neighboring mobile home that was vacant, Webb said. "It wasn't a total loss. The fire was confined to a bedroom, in the ceiling," he said. Other than minor smoke damage, "most of the rest of the house is actually okay."

Webb said West Carlisle Fire Department also responded to the fire.
