The time has come to once again register for the 3rd annual A Day in the Ring livestock show. This livestock show brings together special needs students with 4-H and FFA students from across Ellis County during the Ellis County Youth Expo.

It is an experience like no other.

This particular show showcases our special needs students and their 4-H or FFA show buddies as they show their livestock. When students arrive on show day, they are paired with 4-H or FFA buddies. They will receive their “show shirt” and then go meet their animal.

Each student will take a turn entering the ring to show their animal with their buddies. Students will learn the basics of getting the livestock ready for the show ring and will make a new friend in their buddy.

This year’s show is March 29 at 10 a.m. at the Ellis County Expo Center.

All 4-H and FFA youth are asked to be at the Expo by 8:15 a.m., with other students arriving for check-in beginning at 9:15 a.m.

To register your student for this show, please visit https://elliscountyyouthexpo.com/a-day-in-the-ring/. Each 4-H and FFA student will fill out the Youth Volunteer form, with the special needs students filling out the Waiver form. All forms are due to the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office by Feb. 28.

The community is invited to attend and cheer on these awesome students as they show their animals.

Lunch will be provided for all participants and their buddies. Concessions are available for the public. The event is sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, Ellis County, Ellis County Youth Expo, and all of the 4-H and FFA chapters.
