ABILENE — Sawyer Robertson threw two touchdown passes to Blair Conwright and Cameron Stevenson returned two takeaways for touchdowns as Coronado knocked off Abilene Cooper 42-23 Friday night in District 2-5A Division I action.

The Robertson-to-Conwright connections of 27 and 13 yards came in the game's first eight minutes and gave the Mustangs (5-1, 2-0) a 14-7 lead.

Stevenson's 51-yard interception return made it 21-14 in the second quarter, and he ran in a fumble from 14 yards out that made it 28-17 early in the third quarter. Kaleb Manuel added to that lead with a 49-yard scoring burst to end the third.

Robertson finished 29 of 47 for 278 yards with two interceptions and two touchdowns. Conwright caught 11 passes for 120 yards, and Manuel carried 17 times for 89 yards.

Leading 35-23 late, Coronado's Armando Gonzales threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Zaylon Brown.

Gonzales finished 4 of 4 for 64 yard, and Brown caught five passes for 75 yards. Caden Hensley caught seven for 60 yards.

Abilene Cooper is 2-4 and 1-1.
