The Bushland Falcons got to play the doubleheader they were looking for Friday afternoon.

Unfortunately, they couldn't finish the whole job.

After losing the first game of their Class 4A region semifinal series to Iowa Park at Lubbock Christian University, the Falcons bounced back in  game two with a 5-1 victory. But they didn't have enough in the tank in the final game, as they fell to Iowa Park 13-7 to see their season end.

Bushland ended the season 32-7, as the Falcons made their deepest playoff run in three years.

The Falcons got to the third game thanks in large part to the performance of sophomore Skyler Jaco on the mound. Jaco pitched a complete game, Bushland gave Jaco all the cushion he needed with two runs each in the third and fourth innings as he took care of the rest.

Colton Moore and Hayden Martin carried the Falcons offensively, as they had two hits and drove in two runs.

Bushland, however couldn't carry that momentum into the second game. Not only did Iowa Park, (30-5) take a 1-0 lead int he first inning and never look back, but the Hawks piled it on with 11 runs in the top of the second, and that made all the difference.

Martin, who started for Bushland, walked the first batter of the inning and was pulled. Kollin Elliott relieved and didn't retire a batter, as he gave up two hits, three walks and hit a batter to bring home a run.

Cooper Wise relieved Elliott but gave up a three-run double to CHris Dickens and a three-run triple to Trent Green, and by the end of the inning it was 12-0.

But the Falcons fought back in the bottom of the inning. Hunter Boydston hit a two-run single and Colton Moore had a n RBI double to spark the inning, and by the time it was over, the Falcons had cut the lead in half, 12-6.

However, Bushland couldn't get closer than five runs the rest of the way.
