In 14 innings against Mount Pleasant, senior Rachel Eckrote allowed just four hits and no runs to help her team advance in playoffs in a Class 5A Region II area round series.

In Game 1 on Thursday, Eckrote shut out the Lady Tigers, allowing just one hit and three walks and striking out 12. While Prosper scored five runs, only three of them were earned.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning. After a leadoff walk by catcher Bailey Zornes, Avery Colclaser followed with a triple to put the Lady Eagles on the board. An error by Mount Pleasant’s second baseman let Colclaser score from third to give them their second run.
With two outs in the fifth inning, Prosper had runners on first and second. A wild pitch by the Lady Tigers allowed both runners to move up, a second error by the catcher allowed both runners to score, giving the Lady Eagles a 4-0 lead.
Marisa Mejia hit a lead-off homer in the top of the sixth for the final run of the game.
Prosper 2, Mount Pleasant 0
In the second game of the series, Eckrote pitched a second shutout. She walked one and gave up three hits and struck out four.
The Lady Eagles scored one run in the bottom of the first with two outs, after an error by Mount Pleasant’s shortstop.
Just one of Prosper’s runs were earned with Shelby Lantz getting the only RBI of the game. Marina Karnes led off the second inning with a single to center field. After Mejia popped out to the pitcher, Skylar Phillips singled and Abbey Beasley walked to load the bases. A fielder’s choice allowed Karnes to score the second and final run of the game.
Phillips went 2-for-3. The Lady Eagles had seven hits, one error and one strikeout.
Prosper will play Hallsville in the regional quarterfinals this weekend. Game 1 will be at Rockwall High School at 7 p.m. on Friday. Game 2 on Saturday will be played at Rockwall Heath High School at 1 p.m. with Game 3, if necessary, being played 30 minutes after the conclusion of the second game.
