Kendall Foster reached on a one-out error to allow the winning run to score in the bottom of the eighth inning as Prosper edged Colleyville Heritage, 9-8, in non-district action on Saturday, April 29, in preparation for the playoffs.
The Eagles will face Frisco Centennial, the fourth seed out of District 13-5A, in a Class 5A Region II bi-district series at McKinney Boyd. Game 1 is May 3 at 7:30 p.m., Game 2 is 7:30 p.m. on May 4 and Game 3, if necessary, is at 2 p.m. on May 5.
Dawson Zey was 2-for-2 with a walk, two RBI and scored, Foster was 2-for-5 and scored twice, Braden Carmichael was 2-for-4 and scored, Connor Jackson doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice and Jaxon Alley doubled and drove in two runs for Prosper.
The Eagles tied the game at two in the bottom of the first inning before taking a 5-2 advantage in the second.
Colleyville Heritage scored three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to take an 8-5 lead before Prosper scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to start the comeback.
Tate Starks was hit by a pitch with one out, Carmichael singled and then Jackson had a two-out, two-run double to right to cut the deficit to one.
The Eagles tied the game in the sixth when Foster led off with a single, stole second and scored on Zey’s hit to center.
Jackson led off the eighth with a walk and Braden Webb sacrificed him to second. Foster was then safe on an error as Jackson scored the winning run.
