The Alice Lady Coyotes had a pair of home runs Tuesday night, and while it provided some early fireworks, the long-balls did little to stymie the Calallen Lady Wildcats.

Calallen used its offense to outdo Alice in an 8-3 District 30-5A contest at Alice High School.

Alice’s Kayla Escobar and Sarina Cantu each had home runs for Alice.

Calallen starter Hannah Chapa was given the win. She allowed four hits and two runs through two and two-thirds innings. Ashley Richardson and Lisette Del Angel provided relief later in the game.

Alice was without starter Layla Rodriguez Tuesday. Sam Hinojosa started in her place and took the loss Tuesday night. She gave up 13 hits and eight runs through seven innings. She did strike out three.

Aviada Gonzalez led Calallen, going 3-for-4 with three RBI. She also provided a spark in Calallen’s three-run third-inning rally.

The Lady Wildcats got on the scoreboard in the second inning off a two-RBI single by Faith De Los Santos.

Calallen bettered its record to 5-1 in 30-5A and 18-6 for the season. Alice fell to 2-4 and 12-12.
