The Lady Eagles won a 16-0 game against Newman Smith on Tuesday, April 3 in a quick two and a half inning game. Rachel Eckrote threw three no-hit innings and struck out seven of the nine batters she faced.
Two innings of offense was all Prosper needed, scoring two runs in the first and 14 in the second. Only four of their 16 runs were earned.
The Lady Eagles started off the second inning with a leadoff triple by Marina Karnes. Abbey Beasley followed with a single and that began the scoring onslaught.
Prosper’s second inning consisted of three singles, two doubles, two triples and five walks. Smith committed all three of their errors in the second inning which accounted for five runs. Six of their 14 runs came with two outs.
Avery Colclaser went 1-for-2 with three runs and four RBIs.
Julia Bumford went 1-for-1 and scored one run. She got two RBIs and two walks.
The Lady Eagles outscored the Newman Smith Trojans 29-0 this season. Eckrote held them to eight no-hit innings and struck out 20 of the 28 batters she faced.
Prosper is now 9-0 in district play, 19-5 overall.
