The Prosper Eagles were at risk of losing their undefeated record in District 14-5A play on Friday, March 23, against Carrollton Newman Smith but managed to earn their fourth district win and 16th overall thanks to a walkoff hit.

With the game tied at three and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Braden Webb walked on four pitched to load the bases for Kendall Foster.

Foster came up to bat and had been 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a pop out to that point.

Beau Preston was at third base running for Cason Carte, who doubled down the third base line. Connor Jackson was on second and Webb on first, each on walks.

On a 2-2 count Foster hit a single up the middle to give Prosper a 4-3 win and a 4-0 record in district.

Webb finished with three walks and a stolen base.

Spencer Cochran got the win after pitching the final two innings for the Eagles. He gave up one hit and a walk and struck out two.

Taylor Pendley started the game, going five innings. He threw 73 pitches, struck out one and walked two. He gave up three runs, two earned, on three hits and hit one batter.

Newman Smith took the early lead, scoring two in the top of the second, but Prosper would take a 3-2 lead after scoring one in the bottom of the third and two in the bottom of the fourth. Continuing the back-and-forth run scoring, Newman Smith tied the game in the top of the fifth.

The Eagles are now 16-4-2 for the season.
