Staci Jackson comes into her second season as head coach of Prosper’s varsity softball team after a successful first year. The Lady Eagles went 22-10 last season but were knocked out of the playoffs early.
They had a good run differential of +135 and went 10-5 in district.
They held a five game win streak at the beginning of the season and their only losing streak consisted of two games in April.
“We expect to be faster on the bases this year and produce more offensively,” Jackson said. “Our success will be based on what we do every day in practice and our senior leadership.”
The Lady Eagles will have four seniors returning that made the all-district team. Rachel Eckrote and Avery Colclaser made first team all-district, Bailey Zornes and Skylar Phillips made second team.
“Avery Colclaser will be an impact player for us this year starting at second base and being our leadoff hitter,” Jackson said.
The Lady Eagles will start their season playing in the College Station Varsity Tournament on Thursday, Feb. 15 through Saturday, Feb. 17. Their first home game will be Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. against Lewisville.
“[The focus this off-season has been] getting stronger and faster and a big emphasis on hitting,” Jackson said.
