PROSPER — In her first season as a head coach, Mandy Bowling has led the Prosper Eagles tennis program to another successful fall season. The team defeated Lake Dallas in a dominating 19-0 decision on Tuesday, Oct. 10, securing a second-place finish in District 14-5A.

Bowling always puts emphasis on her players, and the work they put into each and every match, and Tuesday’s victory was no different.

“The team has come a long way since the beginning of the year, and we aren’t done yet,” Bowling said. “I am very proud at how hard they are working — it is showing on the courts!”

While Bowling always speaks so highly of her team and the growth that she’s seen in each of her players, she has a lot to be proud of herself. After the departure of long-time coach Jan Brown, Bowling is making a mark of her own, leading the team through an incredible season of victories.

Freshman Jett Anderson saw a tremendous start to his varsity tennis career. Partnered with sophomore Jordan Fisher, the duo finished district undefeated in Mixed Doubles play. Also undefeated, freshman Josh Anderson and senior Brandon Bonaparte went undefeated in Boys Doubles during district.

But the winning doesn’t just come from doubles play. Sophomore Brock Ladehoff was also undefeated in Singles District play, and junior Lilli Watson has only dropped one match the entire season.

The junior varsity tennis program has also wrapped up their fall season, sealing the year with a 7-0 District Championship.

The varsity will begin their playoff run at McKinney North High School on Monday, October 16 at 4 p.m. They will take on Frisco Reedy High School.
