The Prosper varsity girls and boys cross country teams had their originally scheduled meet at the McNeil Invitational cancelled due to rain on Saturday, Sept. 30.

Rather than taking the week off, head coach Jennifer Gegogiene and her teams traveled to Arkansas to compete in the 29th annual Chile Pepper Festival. The girls finished in 9th place and the boys placed 15th. Barring another scheduling issue, it will be the only time Prosper cross country travels out-of-state for an event as part of their fall season.

Meanwhile, the Prosper junior varsity teams competed at the Falcon Fast Invitational hosted by Timber Creek High School in Keller. In the 5,000-meter run, four girls placed in the top 100. Those included Samantha Drobny, Kirstin Towle, Aariah Doggett and Anna Johnson.

The junior varsity boys had nine runners finish in the top 100. Three of those finished in the top 50, including Alex Williams (24th), Carter Derebery (39th) and Bryce Earls (49th).

The Eagle runners will return to Norbuck Park in Dallas for their next meet on Friday, Oct. 6.
