PROSPER — After their first district loss last week against McKinney North, the Prosper varsity tennis team bounced back and defeated The Colony on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The Eagles now move to 4-1 in District 14-5A play with the 12-7 victory.

Senior Brandon Bonaparte and freshman Josh Stephen won their very close three-set doubles match during the competition, along with senior-sophomore duo Erin Konvalin and Maegen Kaderka who also won their doubles match. Additionally, Konvalin and Kaderka were the victors in their singles matches, each winning in two straight sets.

Coach Mandy Bowling continues to build on the program’s previous success under former head coach Jan Brown. Bowling is now 4-1 during her first year as head coach, but emphasized that it is the kids who are working hard to make the season memorable.

“The team showed such effort and hard work [tonight],” Bowling said. “The team is working harder and harder every practice and it is showing. Very proud of this team.”

The varsity next hit the road on Tuesday, Oct. 3 to take on Carrollton Creekview, the last match listed on their schedule before playoffs.
