ABILENE — The Howard Payne Lady Jackets split a pair of American Southwest Conference road volleyball matches Friday and Saturday, rallying to defeat Hardin-Simmons in five sets before falling in straight sets to McMurry.

In Friday’s 8-25, 24-26, 25-21, 25-17, 15-11 victory at Hardin-Simmons, Zhartezia Bradley recorded 16 kills trailed by nine from Kailey Doering, seven from McKenna Walker, five each from Macy Maniscalo and Jordan Rogers and one from Cheyanne Lovelady.

Lovelady dished out 37 assists while Bradley contributed two and Walker and Jordan Livingston tallied one apiece.

Maniscalo served three aces while Bradley added one.

Defensively, Livingston led the way with 31 digs trailed by Walker with 13, Lovelady and Bridges with eight apiece, Ashley Moore with six, Maniscalo with five and Bradley and Doering with two apiece.

Bradley finished with eight blocks, Walker added four, Maniscalo and Rogers tallied two and Lovelady notched one.

For Hardin-Simmons (7-11, 4-3), Allison Kuster tallied 17 kills, Ashley Pierce contributed 30 assists and three aces, Leecia DePaula finished with 26 digs and Grace Schultz was credited with five blocks.

In Saturday’s 25-18, 25-19, 25-22 loss to McMurry, Bradley again led the offense with 11 kills followed by Rogers with nine, Doering with seven, Walker with two and Lovelady, Maniscalo and Chelsea James with one apiece.

Lovelady notched 27 assists while Moore contributed two.

Bradley served HPU’s two aces.

On the defensive end, Livingston collected 22 digs trailed by Moore with 10, Walker with eight, Bridges with six, Lovelady with four, Bradley with two and Rogers, Doering and Maniscalo with one each.

Walker, Bradley and Rogers recorded two blocks apiece while Lovelady and Doering chipped in one each.

For McMurry, Justice McGowan tallied 12 kills and five blocks, Lauren Davis finished with 26 assists and two aces and Odalis Rodriguez contributed 22 digs.

The Lady Jackets (6-11, 4-4) play three more ASC road matches at Sul Ross Tuesday, Concordia Friday and Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday.
