The Prosper cross country teams continue to have success at both the team and individual levels this season.
Their fourth meet of 2017 was completed on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Lucas Lovejoy Invitational at Myers Park in McKinney. The girls and boys varsity teams each raced in the elite division, which includes both 5A and 6A schools.
The Lady Eagles finished in 8th place out of 19 teams thanks to a pair of top-10 individual performances. Senior Emily Patterson finished 10th and sophomore Tatum Castillo placed 6th out of 174 runners in the varsity 5K, each with times under 18 minutes. Castillo entered the invitational ranked 8th in the state among sophomores. Four other runners finished in the top half of the race, including Macy Owen, Kendall Rose, Anna Hornyak and Peyton Lammons.
The Prosper boys team finished 20th out of 32 teams. Senior Sam Rizzo finished in the 25th percentile with a time of 16 minutes and 35 seconds in the 5K, good for a 62nd place finish. Teammates Leon Valman, Wyatt Landis and Hamilton Burdett all finished in the top 100 as well.
The varsity boys and girls teams will compete again on Saturday, Sept. 30 at the McNeil Invitational in Round Rock.
