The Prosper cross country teams placed in the top three in all five events at their first meet of the season on Saturday, Aug. 19.


The meet was held at Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington. Each Prosper team ran in a six-mile relay, each consisting of four runners in relay-style events.


One of Prosper’s two girls varsity teams took home first place finish. Tatum Castillo, Emily Patterson, Anna Hornyak, and Kendall Rose finished with a time of 36 minutes and 38 seconds for the girls team. The other girls team finished third, consisting of Peyton Lammons, Macy Owens, Madison Christy, and Audrey Haugh.


The varsity boys also finished first with a time of 31 minutes and 18 seconds. Three-time All-State performer Sam Rizzo led that team along with Leon Valdman, Wyatt Landis, and Alex Velez.


Both the boys and girls junior varsity teams finished with solid performances as well. One JV boys group finished first with a time of 31 minutes and 18 seconds. That group included Hamiltion Burdett, Phoenix Buchmiller, Bryce Earls, and Zach Griffin. The other JV boys team finished second, led by Nick Guerrero, Cody Due, Ayden Reddington, and Brian Piotrowski.


The girls junior varsity squad finished in second and consisted of Reagan Beavers, Brianna Villalba, Kelsey Hodges, and Emma Kruse.


Next up for Eagle cross country is another 6-mile relay meet at Norbuck Park on Saturday, Aug. 27
