DURANT — The Southeastern Oklahoma cross-country team will head into the season picked to finish sixth in the Great American conference preseason poll.

The Savage Storm finished the 2016 season with a fourth-place finish at the GAC Championship meet and boasted the team’s first-ever first team All-GAC honoree in Makayla Coppedge.

SE earned 78 points in the poll, falling just one point behind Southern Arkansas in fifth, while holding a 19-point edge over Southern Nazarene in seventh.

Oklahoma Baptist was picked first in the poll with 114 points and seven first-place votes, with East Central in second with 108 and four first-place votes.

Harding earned one first-place vote along with 106 points to finish third, while Southwestern Oklahoma State was in fourth with 88 points.

The team is looking to recover from losing four seniors, three of whom had earned All-GAC honors over their careers, while Letizia and Mireille Hernandez join Rebekah Christman as the lone returners, none of them seniors.
