The Prosper girls tennis team fell short in its first two nondistrict matches of the season on Thursday, Aug. 10 and Friday, Aug. 11.

The first matchup was in Prosper against Frisco Centennial. It was a nail-biter until the final set, as Centennial seized the final point for the close 10-9 victory.

“It was so close,” Prosper head coach Mandy Bowling said. “Each and every athlete out there fought hard until the end.”

The Eagles played again the next day, this time hitting the road to face Lovejoy HS in Lucas, Texas. Prosper wasn’t able to pull out the win, giving them a 0-2 record to start the season.

“Instead of getting upset, it motivated all of us to work even harder,” Bowling said. “We are excited for our matches this week and can’t wait for district matches to start.”

Prosper will play Frisco Liberty on Thursday, Aug. 17 and Frisco HS on Friday, Aug. 18. District play begins Sept. 5.
