PROSPER — Camp season continues in Prosper, as head softball coach Staci Jackson and the softball program hosted their annual summer camp on June 26-29.
This season, the Prosper High School softball program pushed its way to a third-place finish in district and a deep run into the post-season. They earned a spot in the Regional Quarterfinals where they were eventually defeated by Forney, but nonetheless had a successful season.
The softball camp was designed to exemplify the season’s accolades to future Prosper softball players, as well as teaching kids the ropes of the sport. Jackson said that it was important for the players to understand the basic skills of softball, such as throwing, hitting, fielding, base running, pitching and catching.
“Our main focus is for the kids the learn the basic fundamentals of the game, and to have fun,” she said in an email.
A variety of athletes were welcomed to participate in the camp, and Jackson hopes to encourage players to become more involved in the sport.
“I hope that the kids understand the Prosper way on the softball field,” she said. “And are determined and excited to step on the field one day in a Prosper uniform.”
