ARLINGTON — Last week, Prosper High School Track and Field competed in the regional tournament at Maverick Stadium. Five athletes placed at the meet, including one who will advance to the state meet.
As the sole Prosper competitor in the field events, Hailey Killinger took second place in the triple jump. Her second place finish landed her a spot at the state meet.
The Eagles continued to shine in the distance running, as the remaining athletes placed in long-distance events.
For the girls, Abby Williams placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run, and her third-place finish in the 1,600-meter run was just one place shy of qualifying for state. Tatum Castillo placed sixth in the 800 meters. Sam Rizzo also placed sixth in the 3,200-meter run for the boys.
According to the boys’ coach Clinton Hormann, the team had a successful year.
“We had a productive season,” Hormann said. “Our team got better each week we competed and looking forward to next season. We are returning a lot of young, talented folks.”
The state meet will take place at the University of Texas at Austin at Mike A. Myers Stadium from May 11-13. For more details, please visit http://www.uiltexas.org/track-field/state.
