GLEN ROSE — The Tioga girls golf team earned a runner-up finish and the state tournament berth that goes with it on the final day of the Class 1A Region III tournament at Squaw Valley on Thursday.

It is the third straight state appearance for Tioga, which was third in Class 1A last year.

The Lady Bulldogs had a two-day total of 815 that was better than every team except for Blanket, which won the region title with a 776. Iredell was a distant third at 870.

Peyton Moore led Tioga with a 192 that was good for third place and she was three strikes from being the runner-up. Demi Wilson shot a 198 and tied for fourth, Brittany Barnett carded a 208 and placed seventh, Emily Adlof finished with a 217 and was 12th and Destini Maness shot a 242.

The Class 1A state tournament is May 15-16 at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.
