LEWISVILLE — After a successful fall season, the Prosper tennis team has continued to thrive in their spring season. Coach Jan Brown and the Eagles placed third overall in district and second in team tennis. Last week they competed in the District 14-5A Championship Tournament, and had several players finish with rankings.

Seniors doubles team Svaska Iyengar and Reid Lohmann won first place in the mixed doubles portion of the tournament and will move on to play in the Regional Tournament. Only the top two places at district advance to the tournament. Freshman Emmaline Nichols placed third overall in singles, and will be an alternate for regionals in the event that someone else cannot compete. In addition, doubles duo freshman Hannah Smith and sophomore Callie Leland placed fourth in the competition.

Brown said that she hopes to schedule a practice match for the team in preparation for regionals. They will also continue attending private lessons and work on drills during practice. The Regional Tournament will take place on April 17-18 in Allen. Iyengar and Lohmann will compete against teams from Frisco, Highland Park, Texas High, Dallas, and Sherman.
