It wasn’t quite the game plan on Tuesday night when the Prosper softball team traveled to The Colony, getting shutout 16-0.

But the Eagles (13-5, 4-2 in 14-5A) picked it up and got back in the win column with a no-hitter from junior Rachel Eckrote on Friday night against Carrollton Creekview at home.

Against The Colony, it was the Eagles that were no hit as Karlie Charles and Brittany Maniloff combined for it in six innings. The Colony scored 11 times in the bottom of the first, and added three more runs in the second.

Eckrote started on Friday against Creekview and was in rhythm from the start.

Prosper scored four in the first and two in the second. Senior Abby Smith got a two-out single, Creekview made an error and the Eagles scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Junior Bailey Zornes continued the inning with a three-run home run to left field.

In the second, the Eagles again did their damage with two outs. Sophomore Alex Beatty doubled on a line drive to left field with two strikes and junior Avery Colclaser scored from third base after getting a steal.

Smith, signed to Texas A&M, doubled to bring in Beatty and gave Prosper a 6-0 lead.

The Eagles went up 8-0 after the fourth inning and Marina Karnes hit the walk-off two-run single to center to end the game in the bottom of the fifth.

Eckrote would finish with eight strikeouts and three walks on 87 pitches. Prosper had 10 hits as a team with Smith going 3-of-3 and two RBIs.

Zornes was 2-of-3 with the home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

It was Eckrote’s second no-hitter in the past four games. She struck out 12 batters with one unearned run in a 19-1 win over R.L. Turner on March 16.

Prosper travels to Lake Dallas on March 28 and hosts Little Elm to start the second half of district on March 31.
