Prosper 3, Carrollton Creekview 0

It’s the same story for the Lady Eagles, who remain undefeated after beating Carrollton Creekview on Friday, Feb. 10. Prior to the match, Creekview was tied for second behind Prosper in district rankings. The Lady Eagles also defeated Creekview 2-1 in overtime during the second round of playoffs last year.

Flores said he knew the Lady Mustangs were looking for revenge, and the girls had to make some adjustments early in the game.

“We were a little frantic early as we were trying to do too much with every pass,” Flores said.

The Lady Eagles were able to calm down and convert a goal shortly into the half when Prosper found some space to switch the field, sending a ball across toward the back post. Sophomore Diana Ordonez was there to head the cross home to give her team the lead. Ten minutes later Prosper earned a corner, and after a brief scramble in the box senior Gabby Gamboa slipped the ball past the Lady Mustang keeper for their second goal.

During the second half, Creekview opened up their offense, but the Lady Eagles pounced on a counter attack opportunity, leading to sophomore Hailey Davidson being fouled hard inside the box. Without hesitation, junior Kat Rogers assumed her place on the penalty spot and finished her shot with ease, giving Prosper a comfortable 3-0 lead. The Lady Eagles would coast through the remaining minutes of the game, winning their fifteenth consecutive match in the 2017 season.

Ordonez emphasized the importance of maintaining their undefeated status.

“It’s good to have this much momentum going into every single game,” she said. “The more games we win, the more the momentum keeps building up. It’s gives us a little leverage above (the other team).”

The sophomore is currently leading the district in both points (42) and goals (16), and is second in assists (10).

“It’s not some thing I can do on my own,” Ordonoez said. “I have to remember to stay humble, stay hungry … and always want to keep getting better.”

The Lady Eagles will continue their district charge on Tuesday, Feb. 14, against Lake Dallas at home.
