After the Eagles won a share of the District 14-5A championship, Prosper players led the way in all district voting.
Seniors Nathan Powter and John Brannon were both unanimous picks for Offensive and Defensive MVP. Powter had 11 touchdowns to just one interception this season.
Others that made first team were senior Maurice Landers, senior Everett Jefferson, senior Travis Dafft, senior Joe Hunter, senior Cooper Correll, senior Kiel Couturier, junior Blake Harrington, junior Armon Johnson, junior Aidan Carr and junior Justin Benvie.
On second team: Kaleb Adams, Austin Lind, Max Moats, Zac Hormann, Dre’vyn Boyd, Dalton Splawn, Trent Owens, Jaylen Ball, Tristan Jones and Cade York.
Andrik Ortiz, Jayden Ford, Preston Pfeifer and Cade Prendergast were honorable mention.
Head coach Brandon Schmidt and Little Elm’s Kendrick Brown were Co-Coaches of the Year.
“The season went well,” Schmidt said. “Prosper won its first district championship in several years and improved on last season’s 6-5 record. For the second year in a row we showed improvement on offense, defense, and special teams. Also, for the second season in a row, a Prosper player has won the District Defensive MVP, something we hope to make a tradition. We saw several players step up and play well in new roles — Justin Benvie, Dre’vyn Boyd, Everett Jefferson, Nathan Powter to name a few. We also experienced success on both the JV and freshman levels, so we are looking to continue the success into the future as we hope to continue to improve as a program.”
Players to make the all academic team: Cade Prendergast, Blake Parrish, Andrew Moore, Garrett McWilliams, Maurice Landers, Zachery Hormann and Quinton Benedict.
