It’s the most wonderful time of the year — the high school football playoffs.

Yes, it seems just like yesterday it was the first of August with two-a-days just beginning and just like that, 11 weeks went on by.

As we enter the postseason, which team will find themselves at the end of it all, inside the AT&T Stadium during championship week?

Like the volleyball playoffs, Prosper will take on Frisco Wakeland this week, the ladies going on Tuesday while the boys hit the gridiron on Friday night at Clark Stadium in Plano. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

PROSPER: Eagles snapped their winning streak of seven games, but have to be entering the playoffs higher than they were a season ago. Prosper hoisted a district championship trophy and represent Class 5A as the one of many No. 1 seeds in the state during first-round action. Prosper threw out its third quarterback of the season last week against Lake Dallas in Mr. do-it-all Austin Lind, who did 150 yards on an efficient 8-of-11 passing. Running back Kaleb Adams continues to produce while the big playmaker Everett Jefferson can go for a big gain at any moment. Despite the loss, the defense continues to be a force against opposing teams. The Eagles hold a plus-215 point differential. The playoff appearance is the program’s second straight and 13th since 2002.

WAKELAND: The Wolverines also lost in their regular season finale, 31-24 to Frisco to finish 4-3 in District 13-5A and 6-4 overall for the No. 2 seed in Division I. Wakeland lost three of its last four games. Offensively, quarterback Cooper Chandler has completed 71 percent of his passes for 2,516 yards and 29 TDs to just five interceptions. Jay Orji has rushed for 894 yards and 13 TDs, and Tre Adams is their leading receiver with 52 catches, 790 yards and 8 TDs.
