From Staff Reports
Last Friday night, the Lady Eagles welcomed home alumni from the classes of 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 to take part in the 2nd Annual Lady Eagle Soccer Alumni Game. On a cold, windy night, the former Lady Eagle soccer players would take the field one more time to do battle against the current Lady Eagles. Memories of seasons past would be on everyone’s minds as familiar faces were back on the ball one more time on their home turf.
The game would start with both teams reacquainting with one another as the current Lady Eagles tried to find a rhythm. Having graduated 10 seniors last year and returning only 9 players from last year’s squad, the current Lady Eagle team would use this game to continue to gel together as a team. A competitive first 15 minutes had the game tied at zero with the alumni holding their own defensively. The current Lady Eagles would struggle to figure out the Alumni defense until later in the first half when they would get on the scoreboard and take the lead. The current Lady Eagles would add on one more before the half and make the score 2-0 into the break.
At the half, the JV Lady Eagles would take the field and have their names announced to the bundled up fans. The JV Lady Eagles look to start their season this week as they compete in the Lawn America Prosper Invitational Tournament.
The second half would kick off with temperatures continuing to drop and the winds sustaining their speeds. The current Lady Eagles, however, would come out on fire and begin to really apply pressure on the Alumni defense. As the current Lady Eagles took control of the game, goal after goal would be put into the back of the net, and the current Lady Eagles would control the game and the scoreboard. When all was said and done the current Lady Eagles would take the game 8-0.
A big thank you to all the returning alumni for coming to play in the game as well as for all their hard work in making the program what it is today. Every Lady Eagle on that field has played, or is playing, such a vital role in the program’s success. We would like to thank them for always being such wonderful ambassadors to the program and for giving us all such wonderful memories.
