The Prosper High School varsity volleyball team is undefeated in district play after sweeping the Lobos at Little Elm High School on Friday. Coach Erin McClanahan says that while she is happy with their 1-0 record, the lady eagles have some work to do if they want to remain undefeated this season.
"My girls know that I wasn’t happy about our play," McClanahan said. "If we want to compete for a district title, we need to increase our consistency."
Prosper won in three matches on Friday with scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-19. The third game was a nail-biter, with the girls making a dramatic comeback for the win.
"The match was sloppy at times but we did a good job of coming back from being down 17-13 in the third to close it out 25-19," McClanahan said. "Closing hasn’t been a strength of ours, so that was good to see."
Highlights from the Little Elm Game:
Meredith Bramer: 12 kills, 12 digs
Maddie Scarbrough: 2 solo blocks, 1 assist
Allie Webb: 2 solo blocks, 2 assists
Kaylee Cole: 16 digs
Ashley Brown: 8 digs
"Kandyce Freeman did a great job of coming in off the bench and sparking a fire in set 2," McClanahan said. "Her blocking and powerful offense helped us keep our momentum."
The Lady Eagles also lost in five games to Byron Nelson last Tuesday: 25-17, 24-26, 25-23, 16-25, 8-15.
Allie Webb lead Prosper with 6 kills on 10 attempts for a 0.500% hitting percentage

This Friday, the lady eagles take on a strong district opponent in Liberty High School at home and they host Wakeland High School on Tuesday.
