From Staff Reports
The team of Taylor Chaffin, Hannah Johnston, Hannah Crosby, Mackenzie Mathews, and Carly Pachuta played in a tournament at The Old Brickyard golf course Oct. 25-26. This tournament included the top teams in both 4A and 5A from around the state.
After day one, the Lady Eagles were in the consolation Bracket. Determined to play better, the girls went out and shot a new school record to win the consolation bracket by 10 strokes. The previous school record was 322 and the team shot a 319.
Sophomore Mackenzie Matthews had the low round for the Eagles with a 73, just three off of an individual record. Team Captains Taylor Chaffin, and Hannah Johnston were next shooting 77 and 82 respectively. Carly Pachuta came up big with an 87 on day two.
This group of girls has a very good chance at continuing a proud tradition of competing at the state tournament, and also a great chance at bringing home a state championship.
