The Lady Eagles are inching closer to the postseason after two more wins last week over Frisco Liberty and Frisco Wakeland. Prosper has locked up a playoff berth and now will play the last three games of the regular season to determine their final place in the district standings. Currently the Lady Eagles are in a two-way tie for second place with Frisco. Prosper was scheduled to play Frisco on Tuesday after losing to the Lady Raccoons the first time around. If the Lady Eagles can beat Frisco and win the final two district games, they could claim second place all alone.

Coach Erin McClanahan said she feels good about the rematch with Frisco and the playoffs.

"I feel really good. We had a great practice on Saturday, and we are going to have a great practice today [Monday]. We play well at home on Tuesdays, so this is our best chance to beat Frisco," she said.

McClanahan said she believes the team is ready for the playoffs and can compete with some of the state’s best.

"When we are playing our best, we are right up there with Centennial, Frisco, Waxahachie, Highland Park, and Lovejoy," she said. "Really, it’s going to come down to what team is executing the best. All six of us are fairly even matched."

But there are still some important district games left on the schedule.

"We cannot afford to lose focus and drop a match due to looking past anyone." McClanahan said. "Heritage is playing really well right now, and they are the most athletic team in the district, so we have to be on our game. While tomorrow nights showdown vs. Frisco is going to be key, win or lose we have to take both The Colony and Heritage serious, because we need to start reaching our peak heading into and on into playoffs."

After the regular season, the Lady Eagles will get ready for the playoffs by facing off against the state’s 5A third-ranked team with Colleyville Heritage in a warm-up match for both schools. Heritage is ranked No. 38 in the nation.

"This will be the best team to have ever come to play us at home, and a great test for us as we head into playoffs," McClanahan said.
