Lady Eagles End Season with a big win over Frisco 6-1

The Lady Eagles traveled to Frisco last Friday night with a 0-13 district record but you could not tell it with their effort and intensity that the team displayed. Frisco who had already clinched second place in the district, faced a Lady Eagle team that came out determined from the get go. Prosper showed a new five man infield vs Frisco’s bunting game and it confused the Lady Raccoons for most of the game. Prosper’s pitching and defense held the high powered offense of Frisco to one run.

Prosper got on the scored board in the second inning as Kelsey Rolfe reached on an error and later scored on Jaycee Smalley’s RBI double. Hannah Smith was the courtesy runner for Rolfe. In the fourth, Prosper added another run as Rolfe singled, was bunted to second by Haley Wilkerson, and scored on Kahla Watkin’s single. In the sixth, Prosper broke the game open as Rolfe walked, Smalley singled, Watkins laid down a two-strike squeeze bunt, Tatum Moore followed with another squeeze bunt, Courtney Hardy had an rbi single to score Watkins, and Hardy scored on a throwing error at third to make the score 6-0. Frisco scored their only run in the sixth.

Leading hitters were: Hardy 3 for 4, Brittany Anderson 1 for 4, Tori Bell 1 for 4, Kelsey Rolfe 2 for 3, Jaycee Smalley 2 for 3, and Kahla Watkins 1 for 2. Kelsey Rolfe was the winning pitcher allowing 1 earned run on nine hits, while striking out four.

"The girls played a great game tonight," said Coach Bledsoe after the game. "It was a great way to end the season and a great way for the eight seniors to end their careers.

The Lady Eagles ended the season with a 9-24 record. The eight seniors on the team are: Brittany Anderson, Kourtney Barnes, Heaven Belle, Courtney Hardy, Cierra Obrien, Cella Morales, Jaycee Smalley, and Haley Wilkerson.
